A Brit’s Tale – Good webquest typing in British literature and tying what they will learn into making a short story.  Task in very informative and the additional stuff will help in the process.  The resources are useful, and explain a lot of information that will be useful to them.  The process to getting to the final task is concise.  Evaluation is well thought out, and the conclusion ties it all together.  Overall a really good webquest.  Date Retrieved:  12/02/03. http://www.plainfield.k12.in.us/hschool/webq/webq144/index.htm

To Kill a Mockingbird – Really cool webquest.  The task is that you are a student growing up in the 1930’s and you are writing to someone in current time telling them about what is going on in your world at the time.  A lot of interesting websites that are very informative about the past.  The letters makes students use their imagination somewhat, and be very verbal and expressive.  Each step of the process will lead you to the final task, and it seems like a really fun project for your students.  Date Retrieved:  12/02/03.   http://www.slc.k12.ut.us/webweavers/jillc/mbird.html

Civil Rights – Very powerful webquest.  At first I didn’t think that it belonged in the English portion of the webquests, but you are writing a lot of information which a huge part of the English process.  You are taking a look at how to write an autobiography, a letter to a Congressperson, a formal letter, and a journal entry.  Each task is daunting to complete, since they are giving you some powerful subjects to take a look at, but for the students besides writing, it is a moving and learning experience.  Can be tied into a history or social studies class.  Very poignant just looking at it.  Date Retrieved:  12/02/03.   http://www.fsu.edu/~CandI/ENGLISH/webq/douglass/intro.html

Anne Frank – Another powerful webquest.  In each task you are asked to answer question for a travel journal you are writing, and how the Holocaust affects you.  You are encouraged to write down your thoughts in feeling in what you are reading.  You are to tie in certain works into your questions, and what quotes best describe some of the haunting yet vivid images we are witnessing.  This webquest could also be tied into a history or social studies class.  Evaluation and conclusion sum things up quite well.  Date Retrieved: 12/02/03.  http://www.fsu.edu/~CandI/ENGLISH/fsuwebquest3/annef.htm

Rewriting Romeo & Juliet – After the last two webquests, these seems like a fun project for students to tackle.  The final task is to adapt a scene from Romeo & Juliet into a more modern day time period.  Once they have completed the final task the each group’s job is to “pitch” their idea to the other students who are “movie producers.”  Each step of the process is fun, and students will have a wonderful time adapting their scene in more modern times, since students can be somewhat imaginative when they want to be!  The final task and conclusion pull everything together, and I believe students will really enjoy completing this assignment.  Date Retrieved:  12/02/03. http://oncampus.richmond.edu/academics/as/education/projects/webquests/shakespeare/
