Internet Safety Education
Policy Agreement/Checklist:
I,
___________________________________, the student, agree that use of the Internet
is not a right, but a privilege and I am to follow and obey these rules fully
for using the Internet at school.
A.
The
Internet is only to be used for educational activities, i.e. class assignments.
B.
A
teacher must always be present when I use the Internet.
C.
I
will show respect to the computer and any and all uses of its accompanying
hardware and software.
D.
When
using the Internet, I will show the utmost respect for others both online and
offline.
E.
If
I experience technical issues with the Internet, I will always ask the teacher
or attending technician for assistance.
F.
I
will not try to hide any improper use of the Internet from my supervising
teacher.
G.
I
will never provide any of my personal identification information to other
online users for any reason unless permitted by my school administration, for
example, my full name, school or home address, and phone number.
H.
I
will not use the Internet to harass, disrespect, or stalk others.
I.
I
will not illegally copy software, images, music, or movies from the Internet. This is copyright violation and constitutes the
committing of a crime.
J.
I
will not use the Internet to send messages that promote hate, defamation, or
racially/ethnically motivated prejudices.
This also includes transmission of information that encourages personal
injury and/or illegal activities against others.
K.
I
will not view or download pornography and other offensive material of a sexual
nature.
L.
I
will not impersonate or misrepresent others online such as sending emails in
another’s name to communicate false information.
M.
I
will not “post” or publish inaccurate or false information online.
N.
I
will not use the Internet to play games online under any circumstances.
O.
I
will not read others’ personal files and/or email.
P.
I
will not download software without teacher approval and/or authorization.
Q.
I
will not download, upload, or transmit computer viruses for the purposes of
disrupting/destroying other people’s computers, web sites, or Internet service.
R.
I
will not try to disable any school mandated or imposed restrictions for
Internet use.
S.
I
will not attempt to buy or sell anything online.
T.
I
will not use email to transmit “Spam,” “Chain Letters,” and other material of a
similar nature.
U.
I
will immediately bring to my teacher’s attention any online material that I
find disturbing, offensive, angry, or upsetting. I will not respond to this material whether they are messages,
images, or web sites.
V.
I
realize and accept that if I misuse the Internet in any of the ways described
above, my parents may be held financially responsible for any damage I may cause
to computer equipment or other people as a result of my breaking any of the
rules laid down by this agreement.
