Introduction

In this activity, you will determine the possible outcomes of two independent events and create a tree diagram to represent the outcomes.

Activity
  1. Use the Harcourt Math Glossary to refresh your memory of these words: probability, event, outcome, tree diagram.  Copy the definitions into a new MS Word document.  Save this document as Tree Diagram--Your Name in your class's folder.
  2. Go to this the MSA site to see a related MSA question and analyze the answer that is given.
  3. Finally, use the drawing toolbar in your Tree Diagram document to create a tree diagram that shows the possible outcomes of the following events: first, a die is rolled, and then, a coin is tossed.
