Introduction:

Creating web drop in activities using Word is a safe and simple process. However, there are limitations when using Word to create web pages. Therefore, it is time to think outside that safe Word “box” and look at another option for web page development in the form of Netscape Composer.

Netscape Composer is free and downloadable from the Internet, available to both PC and Mac users. It affords more flexibility and options for web page design. Therefore, it is worthwhile for students to become familiar with and knowledgeable on the basics for creating web pages with Netscape Composer.

Assignment:

If you haven’t done so already, download Netscape from http://www.netscape.com/. Find Composer in the pull-down menu in “Windows”.

Make yourself familiar with Netscape Composer.

Activity:

Once you have read through the various resources for an introduction to what Netscape composer can provide, then you will use Netscape Composer to create a student web page activity for a topic relevant to your teaching grade level/subject.

The activity must include:

• Introduction to explain the engage the students and explain the topic.
• Activity/assignment description for an engaging, problem-solving activity relevant to your teaching area

You will need to include the use of the following web page tools for this assignment. Each is linked to directions for each task.

• Create a link to each of the separate sections of the web page.
• Create a link to at least one other web page.
• Add 2-3 relevant images to your web page
