Happy American Bald Eagle Day!

Did you know that June 20th is American Bald Eagle Day?  How much do you really know about our American Bald Eagle?  Before we get started, you will need a Bald Eagle Worksheet like the one at the bottom of this page. Once you have your Bald Eagle worksheet, you will need to search different websites to answer the worksheet questions.

First, to learn more about this interesting bird, click on Kids.NationalGeographic.com.  While you are here, be sure to look at all the Facts and Photos, Map, and Videos and Sounds.

After reviewing the information, you may begin your worksheet questions.   Use what you have just learned to answer questions number 1-4.

Collage of U.S. Symbols -- The flag, Washington Monument, the bald eagle, and the Capitol.

Now that you have answered the first four questions, you should visit another website to find out why the eagle is an important U.S. symbol.  To learn about this, click on Ben's Guide to U.S. Government for Kids .  When you have read why the bald eagle is a U. S. symbol, go ahead and click on the Great Seal .  Now you are ready to finish your worksheet!  After you have answered all the questions, you will need colored pencils or crayons to color the picture.

If you finish your worksheet before the end of class, visit this fun website sponsored by The American Eagle Foundation. Find out about American Bald Eagle Day, learn how eagles are protected today, see eaglet webcam pictures, and view pictures of the latest coins with eagle emblems!
