Mathematical Web Link Bibliography

 

 

As a teacher, I see students struggle with math over and over again. I sometimes have difficulty finding different ways to present an idea so that they will understand it better. This is a bibliography of websites that will help students from K to 12 better understand mathematical concepts so that “No Child is Left Behind.”

 

AAA Math- This is an awesome site with hundreds of basic math problems, interactive practice pages, and games as well. The site permits a choice of grade level problems, and the problems are randomly created so the problem isn’t given twice. This is a great site for teachers, parents, and students. Algebra An Introduction for Kids- If a child is struggling with the basic concepts of algebra, he/she should browse this site. It is a great site for fourth or fifth graders who need a little extra explanation of algebra. The site gives problems to look at. Date visited- 2/7/03

Algebra Solutions- Everyone has gotten stuck on an algebra problem sometime in their life. High school can be a tough time, but with the help of this site students will not get stuck again. This site has a place where students can enter a problem of their choice and then receive step-by-step directions on how to solve it. A Maths Dictionary for Kids- Tired of using the same teaching methods to teach vocabulary? Try this site! Mathematical terms are listed from A to Z and give detailed definitions and pictures to help children understand. Brain Pop- Feeling the pressure of the National Standards? Try using this site to better enhance a child’s mind. This site covers mathematical problems for fifth to eighth graders, as well as science and English. Date visited- 2/7/03

Cool Math- Wow! What a site! The animation and math games will keep elementary children involved for hours. There are also specific sites for teachers and parents. Flashcards - This is a super site for teachers who have students that struggle with completing fraction problems. Give the site what numerators and denominators are needed, and it makes flashcards right on the computer so students can practice. This is great for fifth graders! Date visited- 2/7/03

MathDork- A website all about algebra. This is perfect for the late elementary age student and the early middle school student. Play exciting games to learn all about algebra. The Math Forum: Student Center- Do you have a child or student that hates problem solving because they say it is too hard? This site has problems posted every week that can be used to help children diminish their fear of word problems.
