Classroom Newsletters

 

Objectives-

Students will search the Internet for sites on how to improve their newsletter and write a newsletter to use in their class.

 

Students will compare and contrast two newsletters that they find on the Internet and write their results.

 

Introduction-

As a teacher in the classroom or for special activities, I am sure you have written more then one newsletter to send home to parents. This activity will let you look closely at your newsletter and how you can improve it.

 

 

Activity-

 

1.    Find two websites that give you helpful hints on how to write a newsletter and read them. Write down any good ideas.

2.    Find two classroom newsletters on line from real teachers and read.

3.    Use the sites listed below to get you started.

Assignment-

 

Write a newsletter that you can use in your classroom.  Use the helpful hints that you learned from reading two websites on helping write effective newsletters. After reading two teacher’s newsletter, critique them. Make sure you have a positive for every thing that could be improved.

 

Rubric- Each level is worth 10 points.

 

Level 3- Completed both sections and has a well written explanation.

Level 2- Completed both sections but does not have a well-written explanation.

Level 1- Only completed one section of the assignment.
