Shiroma, D. (2000). Using Primary Sources on the Internet To Teach and Learn.  Retrieved on February 5, 2003 from ERIC Databases.

Teachers use different kinds of primary sources to inform students every day. When someone says primary source I automatically think of papers and books. This article enlightened me. Primary sources also include artifacts, sounds, images, and historical places. These sources compliment teaching history in the classroom by permitting children to active learn and develop critical thinking skills. Students are permitted to do more then absorb the information, they also have the chance to analyze, evaluate, and understand what is happening. The Internet has many primary sources students can utilize. This article does a nice job of listing many sites where a wide variety of primary sources can be obtained.

I was very happy with this article because of the amount of sites that were given. I looked at each site and was amazed. I will definitely take a closer look at each site, and I will use them in my classroom. This article made me realize that the Internet is a primary source. I use the Internet in my classroom frequently, and I sometimes feel that other teachers look down upon that. It is good to know that I am using my resources correctly, challenging students by making them analyze and evaluate, instead of only mouth feeding them information. This is a great article for anyone who uses the Internet as a mode of teaching.
