A long standing question raised by educators is this:  Does technology in the classroom improve the academic performance of students?  Regardless of the answer, technology is invading classrooms all over the country.  Therefore, it is important for teachers to be aware of new ways to integrate technology into the classrooms.  The following are a few sites that may be useful for finding articles and other information regarding technology in the classroom.

Google Directory of Educational Technology Journals.  http://directory.google.com/Top/Reference/Education/Instructional_Technology/Publications/

This meta site contains various publication sites that I found to be the most beneficial for providing information on the usefulness of technology in the classroom and which hard/software would be the best.

-Converge Magazine.  At this site is an article written by Wayne Hanson (Dec 2003) titled Technology Integration.  It is about June James, an educator and a supporter of technology in the classroom.  She believes there needs to be increased awareness of technology and integration of it in the classroom.

-Electronic School.  This site contains an article titled Next Generation Divide by Kathleen Vail, July 2003.  It is found in the American School Board Journal.  The article explores the use of technology in underprivileged schools and explains that technology may be useful for these students as they would be able to “see” things they would not otherwise see-ie. virtual field trips, etc.

-Electronic School.  The article listed here may be found in the American School Board Journal, August 2002.  The article is titled The Technology-Rich Classroom, by Drew Tiene and Pamela Luft.  The article provides educators with information on hardware and software that would be the most beneficial for students.

-Integrating Technology in the Classroom.  By Laura Mattingly, Debbie Blume, Beth Lett and Tammy Payton.  (Feb. 27, 1997).  This is a presentation that offers educators an explanation of why technology improves student performance in the classroom.  It also provides tips for making time for computer use, ideas for rotating students, etc.
