The internet is filled with people trying to make money
off of unsuspecting web surfers.
Unfortunately, one big way to make money is to trap people into
accessing sites containing indecent pictures and information. Many times access to these sites is gained
simply by viewing credible sites that have been shut down. During our times in the computer lab you
will need to view different internet sites to find the information required to
complete several activities. During
these sessions, if you find a “pop-up” ad appear on your screen, simply click
on the box with the “X” in the top right hand corner to delete it. If anything on the site appears
questionable, immediately raise your hand and the teacher will assist you. Each site you need to view has been checked
by the teacher, but sometimes things change very quickly and questionable
material could appear. If you
accidentally access questionable material while you are on the internet,
immediately turn off your monitor by flipping the “on/off” switch and raise your
hand to make the teacher aware of the situation. The teacher will then take care of the situation by exiting the
program.
