Publications
This site offers articles related to college level learning. The information which is useful to my teaching
situation involves technology for presentations. This is useful for myself,
and my students alike in that professional presentation are required at all
levels in occupational therapy. This
site offers a variety of articles on this topic.
Example: Anderson, R. Beyond
PowerPoint: Building a New Classroom
Presenter. Syllabus (2004, June 1)
http://www.campus-technology.com/index.asp
This site offers journal articles on a wide variey of technology
topics. For my class, I found it
wonderful because I found a whole journal dedicated to web accessibility. This is important for teachers to understand,
and important for my students to understand.
I could use this site to instruct my students to do research on this
topic.
Example: Foley, A., Regan,
B. Web Design
for Accessibility: Policies and
Practice. Educational Technology Review 11(1), 2002.
http://www.aace.org/pubs/etr/issue4/index.cfm
This is an online publication which discusses current trends and
issues with educational technology. I
found the educational news section to be extremely helpful in keeping up with
current events in the use of technology in education.
Example: Wilson, R. Best Educational
Web Sites Announced. Converge
Magazine [online]. October 2004.

Journal of Educational
Technology and Society
This site provides full length articles on edcuational
technologies covering a wide variety of topics including online learning and
the usefulness of technology in various educational settings. This provides good information for the
instructor on new ideas for technology in education, and on what has been
“proven” to work or not work. This is
helpful for my class in that there are articles on how technology can play a
part in medical education.
Example: Conole, G., Hall,
M., & Smith, S. An
Evaluation of an Online Course for Medical Practitioners. Journal of Educational
Technology and Society. 5(3); 66-75, 2002.
Journal of
Computing in Higher Education
This journal is my favorite because it focuses on computer use at
the college level. This site provides
articles on many aspects of how technology can be used with the adult
learner. Additionally, many of the
articles look at research related to educational technology. I like this because it is not just one persons opinion, but scientific knowledge. The down side to this site is that the
journal must be purchased, although after looking through the contents, that is
not such a bad thing.
Example: Rovai, A.,
Grooms, L. The
Relationship ofPersonality-Based Learning Style Preferences and Learning Among
Online Graduate Students. Journal of Computing in Higher Education. 16(1):
October 2004.

British Journal of
Educational Technology
This publication provides a multitude of information and research
regarding educational technology. It
provides helpful information on basic everyday use of educational technologies
with some of its articles. I feel that I
can use this to enhance any online learning that I might do with my
students. The downside to this
publication is that you must subscribe to get full journal articles.
Example: Jelfs &
Whitlock. The Notion of Presence in
Virtual Learning Environments: What
Makes the Environment “Real”?. British Journal of
Educational Technology. 35: 2003.
