“The Painting has a life of its own, I try

to let it come through” (Jackson Pollock)

These are the words of Jackson Pollock, the famous painter and abstract artist and they are an explanation of his work.  In art class, we constantly study artists and their work, however, many artists had a great deal to say and their statements often reveal their intentions.  We try to determine meaning in work and one method is to study what the artists were saying themselves.
