As we continue our study of modern art we need to start a new movement central to the development of the modern movement . . .

 

Cubism can be broken into two parts:

Analytical               and               Synthetic

 

After reading the directions to the activity below, visit the linked site to find out more about Cubism

 

 

Activity

 

Step #1:  Read the short paragraph on cubism on the website and write two defining characteristics of Analytical Cubism and two more of Synthetic Cubism

Step #2:  Then click on the three links under analytical and the three under synthetic

Step #3:  Choose one piece of artwork from each category and write a brief paragraph comparing the two parts of Cubism

(write all answers in artbooks)
