French Impressionism on the Web

As we continue our unit on the Impressionists, we will read additional sites on the movement and the artists that defined it to get a better understanding of what Impressionism is and why it is important. While there are many parts of Impressionism as a movement, the main area Impressionism really began was in France. We will look at the French Impressionists on the site:

For this activity:

1. Click on the link above and read the brief paragraph of information on the web page

2. Select one artist from the Impressionist movement and click on their name

3. Explore the “museums and galleries”, “image galleries”, and “articles” sections for information on the artist you pick

4. Write 3 of their painting’s names, year painted, and a distinguishing characteristic that makes their painting Impressionist
