Citing Internet Sources Elective
Citing Internet Sources
In general, the American Psychological
Association’s web site is relatively easy to navigate, making it easy to find
the information you are looking for even if you started on the wrong page (for
example, the other web pages referencing different types of citing are listed
at the end of each page). There are many
links to other resources that are helpful in writing papers, such as style
guides and ethics questions. For these
reasons, I would feel comfortable recommending the site to students for
research citation information. If I were
assigning a research paper to my students that I knew would include the
necessity for internet research, as a quick reference I would give the APA’s
website

While the APA has other websites that address
different types of citations, I feel this one provides the most instruction and
examples for many different kinds of information that students may have to use.
Most of the reference material that would be required in a research paper would
need to be derived from a periodical or similar publication to classify as a
valid source. This page on the APA’s website provides the best material
regarding how to cite these resources, reaffirming why I would choose this
site.
