Cyberslueth Kids is a search guide for k-12 grade students. It is not as easy to navigate as yahooligans, however, it brings up high quality child appropriate websites. The pop-up ads are age appropriate nothing about singles or dating services unlike many other kid safe search engines. The searches only brought back around 20-30 hits. Once again not too many for students to handle.

Yahooligans gets my vote for the best kid safe search engine. This search engine was designed specifically with kids in mind. It is easy to navigate. Everything is written in a bigger font. When searching it gives you a small number of matches to your topic. This is very important because kids can't read through over 1,000 different hits on a topic. They need to have access to the most relevant. I also like the fact that it also has a directory where students can find information they are looking for if they don't know the exact term to search with.
