            share their experiences.  This is a great resource for looking at journal

            articles, lesson plans, and finding links to other websites.

            This website is affiliated with the Discovery Channel and offers the user

            anything they are looking for.  Their lesson plans cover multiple subjects

            and offer educational activities as well.  They have their own clipart gallery

            that has animations and classroom images the educator may need.

How Stuff Works – Learn How Everything Works

            This website was offered as a resource for learning about computer

            viruses, and it could be used for many different types of technological

            help.  There is a section on how computers work that can assist the

            teacher or student who is not so proficient with computers and

            software and may want to troubleshoot for themselves.

MATH

These are websites that are particularly useful for elementary math teachers.

 

TeacherSource.Math PBS

            This website is a great resource for the math educator.  There are lots of

            different areas to choose work from that will help with instruction.  A

            feature that I liked allows the lesson to be linked to a mathematical

            standard.  This helps when assessing what benchmarks have been met.

            another interesting area here is that they show how different subject areas

            can incorporate mathematics and vise versa.

National Council of Teacher Mathematics – More and Better Math for all Students

The NCTM website is useful for information on Principles and Standards or other facts about the organization.  The best thing about this site is the

Illuminations link to it.  It is a great source for helping to teach math to

elementary students at any level.  The I-Math section is useful because this is an area that can be difficult for students.  In many schools, technology needs to be incorporated into the curriculum; this is a tool teachers can use to help with lessons.

This website is the National Council for Education Statistics and offers activities for young children to do that enhance their understanding of various mathematical concepts.  There is a section that explores building graphs, probability, and allows kids to

Navigate for themselves.  This resource can definitely help teachers with their lessons.  Math can be difficult for elementary students to grasp.

The Official Eric Carle Website

            This website allows teachers and students to find out all there is to know

            about one of the most popular children’s authors.  Eric Carle’s books are

famous for showing kids different skills in hands-on fashion.  Each book has an insect character, a fun fact about that character and colorful

            illustrations that appeal to children.

The Reading Corner

            Mona Kerby’s website is filled with great books to read.  This site includes

            book reviews and interesting literature information.  There is a section to

            meet children’s authors and illustrators and links to other websites are

            provided.  An excellent resource for media specialists and teachers alike.

Carol Hurst’s Children’s Literature Site – Reviews and Teaching Ideas for Kids Books

            This website had book reviews of children’s literature and provides other

            links related to the topic of the book.  Activities are included that go along

            with the subject of the book and hints are given to teachers on where to

            focus their instruction with the book.

Scholastic Kids

This is a good website for children.  It could be a useful program for

elementary kids during ILA.  The site is easy to navigate so students can have fun while they learn.  There is a word of the week section that

helps students extend their vocabulary, and links to popular book websites are provided.

This website allows students to search virtually any subject for information

or reference.  The site is organized by theme and subcategorized under

each heading.  The site is a valuable resource for children to use to

Pro Teacher! The Web’s Little Secret For Elementary School Teachers

There is an archive that teachers can pull lesson plans from as well as current lesson plans in a variety of subject areas.  Teachers can also get help writing lesson plans here and discuss certain lesson plans with their colleagues.

This is Mrs. Buchel’s Kindergarten class’s website.  This website is nice because it doesn’t include any information that is of no use to the visitors. The topics to search are areas that are of most interest to parents and there is a section offering suggestions to parents to help their children in school.  This could serve as a guide for a teacher that wanted to start their own web page.
