CURRENT EVENTS

Part 2

 

This activity is designed for middle and high school physical education students. Students will learn to gather information and compare two different events in sports by reading an article about each.

1.   Click on the picture to the right and read the article on the Fox News website about Danica PatrickÕs victory:

 

        

 

 

 

2.   Click on the picture below to go to the Scholastic News for Kids website. In the top right hand corner, type ÒRachel AlexandraÓ in the search box Select the article titled ÒFantastic FillyÓ and read the article on the about Rachel AlexandraÕs victory:

 

 

 

 

3.   After reading both articles, create a venn diagram and compare what you learned about Rachel Alexandra and Danica Patrick from the articles. Consider their sport, season, events discussed in the articles, teammates, opponents, owners, where the sport takes place, etc.

 

 

  1. Select 3-4 similarities you found and 3-4 differences you found and in a word document write 1 paragraph explain the similarities and 1 paragraph explaining the differences.
