A Healthy Heart

 

Nobody can live without a heart, so it is very important to keep your heart healthy so it will last many years. In this activity, you will view a website and learn about the importance of the heart, how it works, and how to keep it healthy and working great for a long time.

 

 

Click HERE to visit the website for the American Heart Association and then complete the tasks listed below.

 

 

1.   Calculate your BMI, body mass index (found on the right side of the webpage). Explain how your BMI can affect your risk of heart disease and stroke.

 

2.   View the ÒCut the FatÓ document and put together a low-fat meal with at least five different foods. Keep in mind to try to include bread, meat, fruits, and vegetables.

 

3.   View and/or print the ÒYour heart works for youÓ document. Browse the website to find the correct answers to the worksheet. Feel free to use other sites as well but be sure to include links to all other sites used.
