Sites for Student Publishing

Having students publish their work can give them a sense of pride in their accomplishments. Below are a few safe web sites that are meant for student audiences, and many of which are edited and reviewed by teachers and other educational administrators.

Edublogs

Teachers are also able to control privacy settings, so that only class members are able to view each other's work. The site requires a username and password to access the blogs. A Sample Permission Slip for Publishing Student Work Online

Dear Parent,

As part of our class project in creative writing, we will be using Edublogs.org to publish student work online. One of the benefits of this endeavor is to allow students to experience the excitement of having their work published online. We will also be using this site to share and comment on each other's work. This will be used as part of our peer revision process. Your child will be responsible for critiquing and reflecting on his/her classmates' work. This process is meant to help students learn to properly revise written work on their own.

As part of my concern for your child's privacy and safety, I have selected this site for its privacy controls. This site is password protected, and no one other than the teacher, classmates, and site administrators will be allowed to view student work.  I will monitor all student comments and submissions. Please take a minute to visit the site and review it for yourself.
