Jamestown was the first permanent settlement in North America. It was sponsored by the Virginia Company to make a profit. In 1607, three ships, the Susan Constant, Godspeed, and the Discovery, sailed up the Chesapeake Bay to a river they named James.

Today, you will research what life was like living in Jamestown and write letters to family in England answering all their questions about Jamestown.
