Evaluation

You will be graded on your use of the internet and research skills as well as writing thoughtful and grammatically correct letters.

Letter Writing Skills – Your letter should include the following components:

1. It should have:

· The date

· A greeting

· A body

· A closing

2. The paragraphs should have:

· A topic sentence

· 2 – 4 informative, supportive sentences

· 4 researched facts

· A concluding sentence

3. It should have correct spacing and indentation

4. It should have correct capitalization, punctuation, and spelling.

Grading Rubric

Proper Use of Internet	Uses Internet, but not for research.	Uses Internet and visits at 1-2 research related websites.	Uses Internet and visits 3-5 research related websites.	Uses Internet and visits a wide variety of research related websites.
Research Skills	Both letters have less than 2 researched facts.	Both letters have less than 4 researched facts.	Both letters have less than 6 researched facts.	Both letters have a total of 8 or more researched facts.
Letter Writing Skills (see above for a description of what the letter should include)	The letter includes less than half of the components listed above.	The letter includes approximately half of the components listed above.	The letter includes most of the components listed above.	The letter includes all components that are listed above.
