Before doing this assignment I wasn't too sure about what spyware was. I
knew that it could cause viruses on your computer and by installing an
anti-spyware program, it could clean your computer
from those viruses. Now I know that spyware tracks your personal search
habits and embeds websites, pop-ups and programs into your system which
slows your computer down.
I have used Norton Anti-virus before and was very satisfied with the
program. The program came with my computer so when it came time to renew my
subscription I didn't because the cost was so high. For a while I didn't
have any anti-virus software until I downloaded a free trial of the AVG
software. It was a good program, but just like I read in the review, it has
a very slow scanner.
In reading through the reviews and the instructions in this assignment, I
downloaded Spybot to my computer. I found that it was very quick at
scanning all my files. I also like it because it is simple for me to
understand. I can check the last successful scan and see how many errors
were found and how many were cleaned. The program also shows me my latest
scan results and the specific files that were found with errors in them. It
also shows me the date and time that files were fixed. I was only allowed to
have 15 files cleaned, since this was a trial run. Although I did click on
the purchasing button to see the cost it I did by it and it is only $29.95
which is a lot cheaper than most anti-spyware out there. This is definitely
a program I will consider making a purchase.
