Course Module
Integrating Technology into the Classroom
Goal: Students will be able to collect ideas for integrating technology into the classroom.
Students will be able to share ideas through creating a web page.
Introduction: During this course you have been searching the internet for legal, instructional, multimedia, communicative and utilitarian uses for technology. You have seen and collected many ideas and new information about technology. Now what? How do you use it in the classroom? This activity is suppose to get you thinking of ways to integrate different tools of technology in the classroom, not just websites and power point presentations (although you will find those in these sites as well). Hopefully you will be able to retrieve some activities to use in your class and to share with others in your school.
Activity: Read
this article written by Linda Starr for Education World. It contains
information about the different technology tools out there for the classroom
and some examples of how to incorporate them into your classroom. http://www.education-world.com/a_tech/tech/tech176.shtml
After reading the article from Education World, look at the following sites for more ideas:

a particular grade level and subject area.

Assignment: Using the sites above (and any others you may have come across relating to this topic), create a webpage for teachers identifying 6 subjects (Math, Science, Social Studies, Language Arts, Health, P.E., Music, Art, etc.) and ways to integrate technology into those subjects. You must included two uses of technology for each subject. Make sure you identify a grade level appropriate for these lesson ideas. Include an introduction explaining why you are creating this site for teachers to use.
Submission: Post
your activities as an html file to your FTP folder, create a link to the file
on your index page, and send your instructor an email notification containing a
working hyperlink to the assignment (not to your index page) and the assignment
file's URL. Make sure the subject line of your email is
in the following format: SLM521-lastname- Integration- elective # (if
applicable).
