Introduction: A slogan is a word or phrase used to express a stand or opinion, or used to influence the reader’s opinion or thoughts. Throughout history, governments, advertisers and groups have used slogans for their own gains. Even today “Got Milk?” might make you thirsty or “The Few, The Proud, The Marines” may encourage you to sign on for military duty.
Information: Take a glance through history and see the impact
slogans had on political campaigns and on wartime efforts. Colorful posters
were especially used during wartime to send messages to the public. Click and

links. Create a chart that includes the following for each slogan:
o
List slogan
o
Time period and creator/speaker of slogan
o
Who/what was the slogan trying to influence
o
Do you believe it was a successful slogan? Provide 2 reasons why or why
not.
After
completing the chart, create two slogans of your own that would be appropriate
for the environment in Eugene Zamyatin’s novel We .
Think about how successful historical slogans have been and what the government
in the novel is trying to achieve. Place your original slogans on colorful
pieces of construction paper to be displayed around the room.
