exist around the world. But unfortunately there are many of us
here in the United States that are only familiar with English and
possibly one other language... if we are lucky! As teachers, we
may have to create assignments in different languages to meet the needs
of our many students. Below there are 5 examples of how a
translation program can be valuable tool. Also
included at the bottom is an example of how a translator can translate
english text
into other languages.
- Since students whose primary language is something other than English is becoming more and more common, the translation program may help that student with comprehension. The translation program can be used to overcome the language barrier and let the students focus on the meaning of what they are learning.
- Since the Internet is so accessible in our schools today, Students have the opportunity to have pen pals all around the world. The ability to translate a students letter into any language will enable them to effectively communicate with one another.
- Since America consists of people of many different nationalities it is very common to have students in your class that have parents that do not speak English as their first language. With the ability to translate information into any language, we can now easily accommodate them.
- Since we have access to newspapers all around the world via the Internet, we now have the capability to see how others all over the world view current affairs... we can get their viewpoints.
- Foreign Language Teachers can also use the translation programs for many things. He or she could have the students attempt to translate a passage that is written in another language and then use the translator to check to see if they were correct.
