Citing Internet
Sources
Now that
the Internet has become a major source of research information, it is
important that we teach students how to properly cite the information
that
they find on the Internet. Basically, there are two primary
formats
for citing information... the American Psychological Association (APA)
and the Modern Language Association (MLA).
I have looked at several sites that provide
information, and examples
of the two formats, and I have chosen to review a site that
discusses the MLA style. The site that I have selected to review
is the The Write Source.
I like this site because it
is colorful and inviting... it is simple and to the
point. It also contains several easy to
find examples for citing information. I really like the fact that
everything was shown on one page... it makes directing students to this
resource much easier a task, as they will not get lost in the site
looking for the needed format. This is a great beginners' site
for
learning the general way to cite information from the Internet.
All of
the necessary information and examples needed for a student to properly
cite an Internet source is provided and clearly and easily
portrayed. This makes the Write Source an excellent choice to
introduce and guide students as young as upper elementary students to
proper MLA citations.
