Five Sites that Publish Student Work:

Fern's Poetry Club

Kids can write and submit poems to Fern's poetry club.  Fern is a poetry-loving character on the PBS program "Arthur."  The site also features games and print pages that are fun for kids (like make your own "cootie catcher").  This site is most appropriate for students in elementary school and early middle school.  Date visited: 6/15/09  http://pbskids.org/arthur/games/poetry/

KidsWWwrite

This site has sections for students to submit either stories or poems.  The site is divided into sections for kids aged 5-8, 9-12, 13-16, so students can read work that is submitted by other kids their age.  Because of the way they accept submissions from different age groups, this site is appropriate for students aged 5-16.  Date visited: 6/15/09

KidsScribe

This site is a bilingual site and takes student writing submissions in either English or Spanish.  Students can submit jokes, stories, poems, or write an essay to answer a question that the website provides. While the majority of the submissions seem to be in English, there are some in Spanish.  There are submissions from all over the world, so it is neat to see where the other students live.  Most of the students making submissions are middle school-aged.  Date visited: 6/15/09

Cyberkids

On this site, students can submit art, poetry, and stories.  There is a shopping area on this site.  There is also a "learning center" where students can get online tutoring.  This site seems most appropriate for upper-elementary and middle school students.  Date visited: 6/15/09  http://www.cyberkids.com/
