Elective 8: Clip Art

Below I have information about 5 clip art sites.  I have included a brief description of each of them.  I have included 2 samples of the clip art from the sites.  I have also included a rating.  The rating considers the usefulness of the site to a teacher and the quality and quantity of the clip art images.

Classroom Clip Art: (First Place!)  This site has a number of photos and drawings that can be used as clip art.  The photos are organized into categories, such as animals, countries, and geography.  The geography area features erosion, deserts, and wetlands.  These could be used to help show examples of geological features in a lesson.  This site features many categories and the pictures are useful in an educational setting. date visited: July 2, 2009,  http://classroomclipart.com/

Microsoft Office Clip Art:  (Second Place!)While this clip art website has less of an educational focus than Classroom Clip Art, there are still useful things to use in an educational setting.  Once again, the clip art is divided into categories. This site has a slightly tedious download method.  (And, I think you need to have Microsoft Office to use the site). date visited: July 2, 2009

All Free Clip Art:  (Fifth Place!) All Free Clip Art doesn't have as many useful things as classroom clip art, but it still may be useful to visit.  Some of the clip art is nice and some of it isn't as nice.  However, it's free, so it might be worth a visit.  The clip art is categorized.  date visited:  July 2, 2009  http://www.allfree-clipart.com/

All Free Original Clip Art:  (Fourth Place!)   The clip art is easy to copy from this site.  This site is better than "All Free Clip Art" (site above), but still has limited use to teachers.  The images are categorized.  Even though it might be only somewhat useful in an education setting – it's free – so, you haven't lost anything but time by visiting.  date visited: July 2, 2009

Best Clip Art: (Third Place!) This clip art sites has one of the better collections of free clip art. While this site is meant for the general market, and not just educators, it has a pretty extensive collection.  There are many categories to choose from.  When I clicked on the "education category" I expected to find things I could use in class – but, it was just the images of things you might find in a school.  However, I think that most of the clip art is pretty attractive. date visited: July 2, 2009
