Obviously, the entire purpose of the site is to provide information to the user.  These criteria are intended to aid in comprehension and navigation.

Clutter and overwhelming graphics can detract from a site’s navigability.  Also, indexes are easy to use and clearly organized.

Aside from the obvious information one would expect to find at a library homepage, providing interesting articles, relevant information about books, upcoming events, and reading recommendations would provide helpful information to the busy or easily distracted student or patron.

The number one complaint with web design is that it interferes with the site’s navigability.  Websites should be attractive and well-maintained without distracting graphics, sound clips, and blinking lights.
