Loved it/Hated it:  Film Criticism and The Great Gatsby

It may come as a surprise to you that many high school students would rather watch a bad movie than learn a great lesson in class.  Unfortunately, many students lack the ability to evaluate the quality of a film – they are so excited to be watching a movie that it never occurs to them that they can and should be critiquing the quality of the film itself.  They don’t think about what makes a film good or bad, or the qualities a great film should have.

But not this class.

After having read and watched The Great Gatsby, we are going to be surveying several film critiques and evaluating the film based on our own opinions and the opinions of experts in the field of film criticism.
