Introduction

It is important to understand the demographics of an area. Different states have varying population densities. There are reasons for this along with reasons as to why there are people of certain ages in a particular area.

In this activity you will learn to read population pyramids and analyze them.

Activity

Look at the website containing the population pyramid of Florida Study the ages of the pyramid and how many people there are for that particular age. Notice the ages where the pyramid is fuller. Explain what is happening. Remember, Florida is a special case. Think about the occupants in Florida and why they live there; this may help your answer.
