The Little Search Engines that Could

 

 

1) Kid Safe Search Engines: 

 

http://www.rcls.org/ksearch.htm This site is set up in a way that kids can type in exactly what they are looking for on any subject whether it is a specific word, topic, or website.  The child-friendly layout is especially appealing, as well as the easy to find links. 

 

http://www.tekmom.com/search/  An excellent engine for youngsters! It’s colorful and animated and has an easy to understand arrangement divided by a myriad of topics.  The engine also gives kids options to search reference tools such as encyclopedias and dictionaries.

2) Travel Search Engines:

 

http://www.aardvarktravel.net/  Animated and fun, this search engine can help anyone find information for all their traveling needs from cheap tickets and lodging to general information about location of travel.  Easy to use search and multitude of options available make this site extra appealing. I especially love the kangaroos at your service.             

 

http://www.allsearchengines.com/travel.html  Short but sweet as they say.  This site has a completely different approach, laying out all the options on the home page.  Extremely cozy feeling to read personal annotations.  Covers all categories and provides numerous choices for the lucky traveler. 

 

3) News Search Engines:

http://dir.yahoo.com/News_and_Media/Web_Directories/Search_Engines/  Listed news searches available with brief annotations are extremely helpful.  You can choose for yourself which engine fits your needs and it is all laid out for you.  Although a little weak on the graphics, it gets you what you need and fast.

 

 

4) Shopping Search Engines: 

 

http://www.search-engine-index.co.uk/Shopping/ This is excellent for the local shop-a-holic.  Only the click of a mouse will get you to any specific category, region, search engine of shopping.  Frugal folks don’t despair, there are search engines for you too.  Great for the wallet. 

 

http://froogle.google.com/ Although I am a bit biased because it is connected to Google, this search engine can just about get you anything you need in no time.  Reputation and quality are already widespread…need I say more?

 

5) Medical Search Engines:

 

http://www.mwsearch.com/ Extremely informative and professional, this site will link you to any medical information you may be searching for.  Easy to follow and clearly categorized, covering myriad of medical topics.  Love the dancing telephone.
