Weight Management
Maintaining a healthy weight is something that many people struggle with on a daily basis. Being able to keep track of the number of calories you eat and the number of calories you burn on a given day may help you to be able to understand what has to be done to achieve or maintain your ideal weight. Visit the two links below and follow the directions to graphing your caloric intake and expenditure.
1. Click on the link intake. Write down what you have eaten for the last five days. Using the chart on the website add up your total calories for each day.
2. Click on the link expenditure. Using the second line for weight, find the number closest to your weight and scroll down the list to find any activities you've done for the past week. Think about any exercise or activity you've done for the past five days and add up your calorie expenditure for each day. Remember that the numbers for calorie expenditure is based on an hour of participation, so if you did an activity for 30 minutes you need to divide the total by 2 and so on.
3. Plot your totals from caloric intake and expenditure on a graph. You may choose the type of graph you would like to use. Make sure that you are able to compare your results of intake and expenditure.
4. Using your results, what would happen to your weight if you continued to have the same results for an entire year?
5. Are you satisfied with the results? Why or why not.
6. If you desire, what could you do to change the results?
