Ithaca High School Physical Education Webpage:

Description:  This is the web page that outlines the overall program at Ithaca High School.  The overviews are separated into grade levels of 9-10 and 11-12.  It shows the syllabus of the class, rules and procedures, description and rubric of a portfolio assignment, physical education faculty, links, and handouts that the students will receive.

Commendations:

1.  The site offers a very good outline of the expectations and rules for the students in physical education.  Parents and students alike can go on the site to see what is expected of students.

2.  The site offers pictures and a short biography of the staff.  I thought that this was a good aspect because it lets the students get to know a little about the teachers they will have.

3.  There are good descriptions and rubrics of the assignments that the students will be expected to complete.

Recommendations:

1.  There are links offered, but the sites are more for other P.E. teachers, I would add some sites where students may be able to go to research or learn more about physical education.

2.  The handout section is nice, but I think they could add some more activities into this section.

3.  They could add some e-mail addresses of the teachers to possibly enable students to e-mail questions or assignments to the teachers.

Mrs. Lafave's Physical Education Page

Description:  This is a website on the for an elementary school physical education program.  There is an introduction of the teacher along with a brief mission statement for the class and her picture.  There is a section for physical education links.  There is a section where photos from physical education class can be seen.  There is also a section where you can e-mail the teacher and a section where frequently asked questions can be posted and answered.

Commendations:

1.  Offering a photo of herself and giving a brief description of what will be done and expected in class can be a good way for parents and new students to feel more comfortable about going to the school and the class.

2.  The section that offers her e-mail address and the frequently asked questions sections give a wonderful opportunity for her to stay in contact with any parents who may have concerns or questions regarding her class.

3.  There are some good graphics and clip art that enhance the web page and go along with the different sections of her site.

Recommendations:

1. I think that section where she can put photographs of the class is good, but there is only one offered and I think that it would be nice for parents to see some more of the activities in which their children are involved.

2.  I would recommend the same type of thing for the FAQ section of the website.  Although I think that this is a very nice feature that can be useful to parents, there are probably some more questions and answers that could be added to this section.

3.  The other recommendation I would make is in the section with the links.  I like the fact that she made the Yahooligans search engine available for kids.  The links that are in the section are geared more toward adults and other physical education teachers.  I would recommend that the links be geared more to sites for kids, dealing with topics such as nutrition and exercise.
