1.  Mr. Hamer is violating copyright law by printing out the pages for the extra seven students for whom he does not have books.  The law states that materials cannot be copied and used as a substitute for the purchase of books.  Even though this material is available on the website it could be considered as a potential loss of income for the creator of the workbooks.  A tangible work such as these workbooks cannot be copied without the permission of the author.

2.  The parent of a child who paid to have software downloaded and then shared with the school is violating copyright laws.  When you purchase software, you do not own the rights to the software, you are only licensed to use the software.  You should always read the licensing agreement but generally you may only make a copy of commercial personal software to use on a single computer in your classroom for limited use.  The software company could claim that it lost money because the school and students are using the material that they created without being licensed to use it because they did not pay for the license.
