Introduction
Have you ever thought about what goes into creating a work of art? What is art? What is an artist? Art defined, is the conscious production or arrangement of sounds, colors, forms, movements or other elements that affects the sense of beauty. We often think of artists as painting pictures. But, being an artist involves much more than simply "making pictures".  Artist are curious individuals who are driven by a desire to create and a willingness to take chances. They have a special way of seeing and thinking about the world which is shared with others through the works they create.

Assignment

Select a piece of art to critique from one of the links above, and answer the following questions:          
  1.  What words would you use to describe the
       work of art?
  2.  What seems to be interesting about this work
        art?  Why?     
  3.  What materials do you think the artist used to
       create the work of art?

Record your answer on a piece of  paper and place it in the Computer Center folder.

Finally, open Kid Pix and create your own piece of art. Your piece, must meet the following criteria:        
   1.  Have a title
   2.  Use at least 3 different colors
   3.  Use 2 different paint brush patterns
   4.  Save your file as your last name
   5.  Print out 1 copy and place in your art folder

 2   You answered each question with some
      understanding and completed all
      of the activity.

 1   You answered each question with little
      understanding and completed some
      of the activity.

0    You didn't answer the questions and
      didn't complete the activity.
