Categories To Include:
Library Media Policies and Procedures - These procedures
should
include hours of the Media Center operation, book check-out, return
procedures,
overdues and fines for damaged materials. Book check-out procedurs can
be
further broken down by grade level and teacher. These procedures and
policies,
make clear what is expected of users while in the school media center.
New Arrivals - This category would inform
students
and staff of new arrivals. This would not be just for printed
materials, but
also for non-print materials such as videos and CD's.
Online Catalog (OLC)
The OLC category would remind students of the procedures for
looking up
books in the media center. It would include: keyword, title, author and
subject
look-up.
Research - The following research links would ensure that
students
have a wide variety of resources to access while online. These
are user
friendly search engines that are great for beginner researchers.
Students
can do research by category, keyword or question format. Primary
students
will love the ease and use of these sites.

in.
The database includes articles from newspapers, magazines and
organizations.
Content and curriculum is delivered by: suggested research topics,
monthly
topics, current events, and research strategies. There are also
guidelines
for citations and bibilography tools. Students can e-mail
articles,
they can be acessed by students according to their reading level.
Resources: These links would allow students
access
to as many resources as possible. They also provide the option of not
always
having to to do extensive research.

site is a wonderful library site with a wealth of information and

for students. There are links for questions, research and independent
activities.

at the Smithsonian Museums.
Recommended Reading List - This list would inform
students,
staff and parents of books recommmended for reading; books would
be
listed by grade level.
Parent and Teacher Professional Library - This category
would let
parents and teachers know the resources that are available for
professional
development and parenting. These resources would include print and
non-print
materials.
Up Coming Events - This category may include: Book Fairs,
Write-A-Book
Contest or information on resources available for Science Fair Projects.
