Objective: Students will select and research a Maryland state symbol in order to describe it's history and signficance in a paragraph.

Directions:  

• With a partner you will visit the site: http://www.mdarchives.state.md.us/msa/mdmanual/01glance/html/symbols/00list.htm

• Select a Maryland state symbol to research.

• Use your responses to the questions listed below to help write a paragraph about the history and significance of the symbol.

• Print out a copy of this assignment to take notes while visiting the site and to write your paragraphs. Your paragraphs must be a minimum of  4 sentences.

• Enter the final draft of your paragraph in Mircorsoft Word.

• You must work as a team, one team member will take notes from the site and the other will enter text into Microsoft Word.

• Cut and Paste a graphic of the symbol in your document.

• Save your file as your last name plus  the word Maryland. Example: allenmaryland.wps, all lower case letters.

•  Include both names on the assignment and print 1 copy.
