Reading, Language Arts & Math:

Brainchild - Standard-based Instruction and Assessment - This website is an interactive online assessment that students can work on independently, it covers Math and Reading.. Students login using their name and select their state. The problems and questions are based on standards in your state. Once students have completed and assessment they are given a total score in percentages, a breakdown of  percentage scores in each area ( measurements, number operations, additon), review incorrect answers and they can click and go back to work on problem areas. Different questions are given each time the student logs on. Great assessment tool for teachers too! This site is for primary and early secondary grades. Date visited: September 25, 2004

Houghton Mifflin- Education Place - This website is great for students, teachers and parents. The subject areas addressed are: Language Arts, Math, Social Studies and Math. There is a special link for students and parents. Under each subject their are links to projects, maps, graphic organizers, activity searches and resources for your state! Kidspiration Downloads - This is a great website for teachers and student!. This site is geared toward the primary grades. Teachers can download the templates onto a computer and have students work idendently or collaborately at a center. Caution: you must have Kidspiration software already installed your your computer. FunBrain - This is a website primarily for students but there are links for teachers and parents. The areas of  focus include Math, Language Arts,  Social Studies, Science, Hisotry and Technology. The site strong points is  Math and Languge Arts. The instruction is delivered in a game format that keeps students motivated. This site is for primary, intermediate and secondary grades grades. Aplusmath -   Aplusmath.com! This web site was developed to help students improve their math skills interactively. Students can access links to Flashcards, Gameroom, Homework Helper and Worksheets. This site is for the primary and intermediate student. Students can even create their own word find puzzle then go back and print out the solution, this link is great for teachers! Aryctech- Online Fraction Bar- This is great manipulative for teaching fractions at any grade level! Students can be given problems by the teacher and students can actually solve the problem using the online fraction bar. There is a link for sample activities to get you started and works sheets. Exploring Butterflies-   This is a website for the primary student. On this site, students will  learn the life cycle of the butterfly. In addtion to the butterfly life cycle, students can access links to: observations by students,  facts, online assessment to extend their learning. Maryland State Electronic Capital -  This is a wonderful site to learn all about the state of Maryland! There is a link titled  "Maryland at a Glance" that gives a wonderful breakdown. Intermediate and secondary students will be able to navigate the site with directions. Primary students will need to have a  link setup for them, for example: "state sysmbols". DLTK Printable Crafts for Kids - DLTK's Crafts for Kids features a variety of fun, printable children's crafts, coloring pages and more including projects for holidays, educational themes and some of our children's favorite cartoon characters. Primary teachers will find this site invaluable.

iKeepBoomarks.com - This website is a cite that teachers can use to organize bookmarks for students. Links can be organized by topic, classroom or individual students. Students can access the website from home, school or  anywhere they have internet access. The teacher just needs to setup a login and password. I would recommend this site for grades 3 and up, simply because of  password issues The advantage is that teachers can add links while at home or at their leisure. There are links for: themed units, worksheet, reading comprehension,  portfolios and flashcards.  Teachers can print out activities for students. Enchanted Learning - This is a wonderful and stimulating site with loads of online, interactive activities involving letters, rhyming and primary skills.  There are also seasonal, geography and science activities. Activities are directed toward the primary and intermediate grades. For a yearly fee of $20.00, teachers have access to  printing out these activies and different formats.
