Online Safety Checklist for Students:

1. If internet privilege is abused, I will lose the use of the internet for the remainder of the quarter.

2. I can only use the internet for educational purposes.

3. There must be a teacher or school employee present when I am accessing the internet.

4. I will never engage in chat online and will never give out any personal information online.

5. If I encounter a website that I feel is not appropriate for me, I will inform a teacher immediately.

6. I will abide by all classroom and school rules when working online.

Agreement for students:

I, ___________________________ do agree as an internet user at Piney Ridge Elementary to abide by all safety guidelines set forth by my teacher. If any questionable sites or pop-ups appear on my computer, I will alert my teacher immediately.

Parent Letter:

Dear Parents and Guardians,

At Piney Ridge, we promote safe Internet usage. As students access the Internet through the school, we expect that they abide by all school rules and regulations concerning appropriateness of topics of research and activities. Here is the checklist that we post for our students about the proper use of internet usage:

As your child’s teacher I ask that all students fill out a research form for each time that they are working to complete a project online so that I know what topic they will be learning about and can also provide helpful sites to direct their studies.
