We are learning about symbols in social studies. Each symbol is significant in it’s own way. It represents something special. One US symbol that I would like the students
to learn more about is the Statue of Liberty.
The purpose of this activity is to expose the students to the different
features and meanings of the statue.
The students will use the web cam to take a tour of the Statue of
Liberty. They will collect information,
and describe what they learned on their tour.
Click on the links below to begin your tour!
After you click on the links below, you will:
1)
Create a chart that identifies the different parts of the statue, what
it’s made out of, and any other important facts that you learn.
2)
Write a descriptive paragraph about the physical features of the Statue
of Liberty.
3)
Illustrate a picture of the Statue of Liberty, by using kid pix or photo
draw, and label the significant parts that you learned during your web cam
experience.
4)
Write an informative paragraph about the symbolic meaning of the Statue
of Liberty.
5)
After viewing the different web cams, describe what the statue means to
you and your family.
