Buddy,
Thank you for giving us the
opportunity to just play on the internet.
That was pretty cool However, I
was really tired when I was done. I
logged on a little before 11:00 P.M. and didn’t log off until after 1:00
A.M. The games were hard because I was
a beginner, but they were also addicting.
However, I did make some progress as I learned how to play. I didn’t want to quit until I won. For some games, that didn’t happen.
I first logged onto http://games.yahoo.com. This is where I created an
account with yahoo in order to play games.
The first site that I went to was http://games.yahoo.com/games/ante?room=pool_82&prof_id=chat_pf_1
This is where I played “POOL.” The setup of the game was really
interesting. You could choose the type
of game that you wanted to play. They
had games that had time limits or no time limits. You could play 8 ball or 9 ball, or training. You could also select the type of table that
you wanted to play on, public or private.
Public meant that anyone could join your game. Private meant that you were up against the person who joined you,
or who you invited. You could IM the
person as you were playing. I played
about five different games of pool. The
opponents were very good. I went from
making no balls on the first game to making four balls on the last game. I could see how this could help students
work on “angles” during a geometry lesson.
The hardest aspect of this game was that I couldn’t find any help or
directions to play the game. I
basically had to teach myself. Overall,
it was a good game to experience.
The second site that I went
to was
http://games.yahoo.com/games/ante?room=checkers_social_c&prof_id=chat_pf_1 At
this site, I played “CHECKERS.” It took
a while to get used to the strategies and how to move the pieces. Overall, it was much easier than pool. I actually won a game I ended up beating my opponent by 7
checkers. After the victory, I hung up
the games for the night. This is a good
game for problem solving and thinking ahead before you do something. I know that my students love the board
game. They would love the computer
application of checkers.
