The DiscoverySchool.com provides hundreds of lesson plans written by teachers.  You can browse by subject or grade - K –12, 6-8, 9-12.  For American History there is an extensive collection of lesson plans.  The plans usually include the objective, materials, procedures, evaluation, possible extension, background, and links. Education World provides an extensive collection of History from General History, Biographies, U.S. Presidents, Wars, Ancient & Classical History, and U.S. History.  The site gives the year of the lesson plan and rates the site in different categories.  They are:  Content, Aesthetics, Organization, and Review.  Some specific American History subjects included, The Civil War, Lewis & Clark, and The Age of Exploration.

Edsitement, the website for the National Endowment for the Humanities provides a wide collection of lesson plans on American History.  One can search by subject and grade level. The Ask Eric Website provides a unified format for lesson plans.  Categories include:  Grade Level, Subject, Duration, Description, Goals, Objectives, Materials, Procedures, Assessment and Internet Resources.  Subjects include:  Boston Massacre, Boston Tea Party, Oregon Trail, War of 1812, Women in American History.  The site always provides an evaluation of the lesson.
