American Revolution Scavenger Hunt - This website provides 30 interactive questions on the American Revolution in which students are linked to many different web sites to answer questions on the American Revolution. Road to Revolution Game – This website provides an interactive question/answer format starting with the Stamp Act.  Students have 3 choices for each question as well as the opportunity to obtain more information in-depth from the site. Lewis and Clark – This website focuses on the journey of Lewis and Clark.  Categories include:  Inside the Corps, Native Americans, Living History, The Archive, Into the Unknown, and Classroom Resources – which provide teacher worksheets to support the site.  This website supports the Ken Burns Film “Lewis and Clark” with classroom activities. The Duel: Burr & Hamilton – This website supports the PBS show “The Duel”, the most famous duel in American History between Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton.  Categories include:  The Film, Timeline, Maps, People & Events, and a Teacher’s Guide.  This website has special features as” The History of Dueling, The Burr Conspiracy, Alexander Hamilton and the U.S. Constitution, and The Rules of Dueling.  Students can search important people of the time.  http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/duel/

 

The War of 1812 – This website is a companion to the documentary on the War of 1812.  Categories include:  Introduction, People & Stories, Events & Locations, Background and Ideas, Exploration Quiz, and Image Gallery.  The pictures include a vast collection of forts, people and maps.  The site gives an extensive amount of in-depth information on the War of 1812. The Oregon Trail – This website supports the PBS show on “The Oregon Trail”. The West – This website provides a multi-media guided tour of PBS’ series “The West”.  Categories include:  The Program, People, Places, Events, Resources, and Lesson Plans.  Students can search specific people influential in the west as well as use a time line to search through a specific era of the west. The Gold Rush – This website supports the PBS show “The Gold Rush” Categories include:  About the Gold Rush, Classroom Resources, the PBS Documentary, Fun Facts.  The subtopics talk about the discovery, fever, gold country, $100 drink of water, and the stinky trail to name of few.  It provides some interesting topics for students.  Date visited 9/22/03 - http://www.pbs.org/goldrush/

The Civil War – This website supports the Ken Burns Film “The Civil War”.  Categories include:  Images of the Civil War, The Film, The War, Historical Documents, and In the Classroom.  This website uses primary source documents and photos. The Battle of Gettysburg – This website provides many details about the Battle of Gettysburg.  Categories include:  Antietam/Sharpsburg, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg Day 1,2,3, Quotes, Soldiers’ Stories, Honored Dead, Lest We Forget, and Panoramas.  The pictures give an excellent view of the battlefield.  The quotes are from primary sources from Gettysburg.
