Your parents want to buy you a brand new car for your 16th birthday.  First they need to trade in their beat-up car that barely runs, so they have some money for a down payment on your new car.  Buying cars is always a difficult task.  It is very important to have as much information as possible.  Remember when your parents get ready to buy a car you want to make sure you are just as knowledgeable as they are about the your very own car.

Click here to locate how much your parents’ car is worth.  Once you have an idea of how much the car is worth, choose a new car that would fit your budget (create your own budget).  Then check out the pricing.  It is important when buying a new car that you shop around first and do not take the first offer you are quoted.  Once you decide on a make of the car (Honda, Toyota, etc.) use Google to find the main website for the make of your new car.  Then get a quote for your new car at the manufacturer’s site and the site where you received a quote for your parents’ used car.  Compare and contrast the prices.  Write two or three paragraphs detailing which site gave you the best offer.  Consider the following questions: Are the prices very different?  Is the manufacturer having a special?  What, if any, factors produce different prices?
