Statistics

In the following activity we are going to use different statistics from a major sporting event and “run” some numbers on the team or individual player.

Click here to get a list of sports at Duquesne University and pick a sport that interests you.  Once you choose a sport please make sure you are able to get the statistics about the team or a player.  The next step is to get the statistics that you will want to find out more information about.  For example, if you choose basketball you may want to look at rebounds per game.  Your goal for this project is to find the mean, median, and mode for numbers you chose.  Once you have that information please create a frequency distribution to further analyze the data.  Also answer the following questions about the information you analyzed.

  1. Do you answers make sense according to the teams record?

  1. What could be a reason error may occur in your calculations?

  1. Do you have further questions about the data that could not be answered through your calculations?

Please turn in the sport name, all the calculations, distributions, and answered questions when you finish.
