Dear Parent/Guardian,

In Geometry at Richard Montgomery we are going to start using the Internet for different types of projects throughout the semester. I would like to inform you of my policy and guidelines for using the Internet at school. You will find below a checklist the students must follow while using the Internet in class. The students will only be working in the computer labs during class time. Therefore, I will be there to supervise all actions taken the students. They will not be expected to work on the Internet outside of class. MCPS has blocked inappropriate sites, and the students will only be searching using kid-approved search engines. Checklist: I, _________________________, will follow the guidelines below while using the Internet in Miss Ryan’s Geometry Class.

ü I will only use the computer and Internet for educational purposes

ü I will shut my screen off and raise my red flag when I find something that is not appropriate.

ü I will only use the Internet when my teacher is present.

ü I will never give any information about myself.

ü I will respect the computer and Internet

ü I will follow all the instructions given by my teacher.

ü I realize that if I do not follow the checklist, I will lose my privilege of the Internet at school.
