Objective- The student will be able to find mathematics games using search engines designed for kids.

 

Introduction-The Internet has many different functions including playing games.  Math games on the Internet are fun and educational.  Mathematic games can be found in many different places. 

 

Activity- using the websites below, find three Internet mathematics games that we could play in our Algebra class.

ü    Yahoo for kids- A fun way of searching- http://www.yahooligans.com/

ü    Kidsclick- A search engine designed with a young mind- http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/KidsClick!/

ü    Jeeves for kids- Asking Jeeves designed to fulfill the young learner’s mind - http://www.ajkids.com/

 

Assignment- Using your newfound knowledge of finding kid safe math games on the Internet, play the game as a review for next week’s mid-term.  Remember you need to write down the questions and answers and turn them in at the end of the week.  We will be playing math games for three days.  You may play up to five different games.   Make sure to follow the guidelines below:

 

Guidelines:

ü    Write a paragraph explaining the directions to each game you have played

ü    Write the questions and answers to each question

ü    Use the three different search engines at least once

 

 

Rubric-

ü        Name of search engine used for each game                                         5 points

ü       Playing at least 3 different games                                               10 points

ü      Writing the questions and answers to the game                           15 points

ü     Explaining in a paragraph the directions for each game                10 points

ü     Creativity                                                                                      5 points
