Starting your day with
a good breakfast in the morning is very important. What happens when you miss breakfast, why is
breakfast important, and what is a good healthy breakfast? In this Web Quest you will find out why
breakfast is the most important meal of the day and what makes a nutritious
breakfast.
Your teacher has informed the principal that
the students in her class have been tired, irritable and restless in the
morning. The students’ grades are
dropping and they have poor attitudes about school and learning. Your teacher is at her wits end and doesn’t
know what to do. You have been asked by
the principal to put together a team of experts, a pediatrician, a dietician
and a counselor to investigate the problem and help your teacher find a
solution.

The Task

The
Process
1.
First, you
will be assigned to a team of 3 students.
2.
Once you
form your groups and have read and understand the introduction and task, you
must choose an individual role that you will be responsible for completing
during this project.
3.
The 3 roles
are counselor, nutritionist, and pediatrician.

The counselor is responsible for researching the following websites to
find information on how eating a proper breakfast and eating a poor breakfast
or skipping breakfast can effect your performance at school. Take notes of important information that will
help your group develop a 5-day meal plan, make a poster and create a slide
show.

group and will be collected at the completion of the project.
5.
After you
have reviewed all the websites and taken notes, meet with your group and share
the information you have found.
6.
Create a
5-day (M-F) meal plan. Some suggestion
for displaying your plan are; using Microsoft Word, displaying your plan on a
chart, using a poster board, or making a booklet. The choice is up to your group. Be creative!
7.
Make a
poster persuading your class to eat a healthy breakfast. The posters will be shared with the class and
displayed in the hallway.

slide show using Kid Pix that answers the following questions:
